ICT Third Term Program For All Classes:

Foundation

Foundation are continuing to learn and consolidate logging onto the computer. Thanks to those parents who have assisted their children to find the appropriate keys for the logging in process. Families could continue to assist in finding the keys: Ctrl, Alt and Delete, also the letters s, g, r, a, d, & e and the numbers 1& 2. Children are encouraged to practise to log into their Reading Eggs and Mathletics as well.

For the first two weeks of this term the Foundation students have been typing up the holiday recounts they wrote during week in their classroom. They will continue to explore the other functions in the word program like changing the font, size and colour of their text.

They a have also been learning how to retrieve saved documents. With assistance students are saving their work.

The skills they will be assessed on are the use of a mouse, accessing and logging onto the computer as well as typing their names and creating shapes in Microsoft Word.

Years 2-6

All students from Year 2 to Year 6 have been completing touch typing lessons also. This program improves speed and accuracy. If you would like to support this, it is recommended that you find a free touch-typing program on the internet and download this on to your devices at home.

Year 1

Year 1’s have been revisiting Microsoft Word, by typing a weekly journal where they are changing the colour and size of the font. They will also insert clips. This is a task the Year 1 could practise at home, particular typing up simple sentences.

They have also been introduced to touch typing lessons. This program used at school, improves speed and accuracy by properly placing certain fingers on the keyboard to type the correct letters. If you would like to support this, it is recommended that you find a free touch-typing program on the internet and download this onto your devices at home. Once they have the correct placement for their fingers recording their work will be a lot faster.

Assessment points for this term are;

Year 2

The Year 2 skills are divided up into 2 main units this term. The first 5 weeks we are revisiting the skills in PowerPoint. The second half of the term we are going to use Story Jumper to publish their Procedural Texts from their English class.

As I we get closer to the date of using this program I will send a broadcast and a paper notes with instructions home so your child can access their account from home. I am planning that at the end to the term the Year 2’s will have printable book that we can publish but as we get closer to the end of term I will let you know how this will work.

Year 3&4

Year 3& 4’are reviewing some coding skills for the first half of the term using a variety of coding programs. In week 6-10 students will be exploring excel sheets.

Year 5 will be revisiting game development through coding. This term trough exploring games then designing a game for a junior class.

Grade 6

Term 3 will see the Year 6 students will being learning to use a variety of hardware (iPads, Digital cameras and video camera) and software (editing programs) to develop a video that advertises the school. Thursday 2nd of July, Mr. Engin will visit the class as our client and give a job brief to the students giving them a goal to work towards.

Last week each student was given a marking rubric to guide their learning over the next 7 weeks, the students are expected to complete the work at school. Below are the broad areas that the students will be marked;
